Im Musée Olympique in Lausanne widmet sich die Ausstellung «Mode und Sport: Von einem Podium zum anderen» den Schnittstellen zwischen den beiden Bereichen. Passend zu den Olympischen Spielen in Paris diesen Sommer zeigte das dort gelegene Musée des Arts décoratifs die Ausstellung. Jetzt zieht sie weiter in die Schweiz; bis zum 27. April 2025 ist sie im Musée Olympique zu sehen. Zahlreiche Kleidungsstücke, Kunstwerke, Fotografien, Plakate und Skulpturen zeigen die Verbindungen von Mode und Sport und setzen sie in den passenden Kontext.

Die Entwicklung der Sportbekleidung

Man sieht Reit- und Bogenschützinnenkleider aus dem 18. und dem 19. Jahrhundert. Diese Sportarten sorgen für praktischere Damenmode: Baumwolle ersetzt heikle Seidenstoffe, und die ersten Beinkleider, wenn auch noch züchtig unter dem Jupe getragen, entstehen. Bald lernt man, dass erst zwischen den beiden Weltkriegen damit begonnen wurde, Sportbekleidung im eigentlichen Sinne zu entwerfen. Der Trainingsanzug, der über der Kleidung getragen wird, um den Körper vor und nach dem Training warmzuhalten, wurde zu einem wichtigen Accessoire, auch das ikonische Poloshirt von Lacoste gehört in diese Rubrik.

Beim Punkt «Ab ins Wasser, vom Baden zum Schwimmen» wird der Bogen geschlagen von den bodenlangen Strandkleidern samt Korsett, in denen Damen im Wasser planschen konnten, hin zu den heute schon als «technologisches Doping» bezeichneten Schwimmanzügen von Athleten der Neuzeit.

Sportarten wie Klettern, Skifahren oder Surfen, welche grossen Einfluss auf die Mode hatten und haben, finden ihren Platz ebenso wie Farben und Logos. Natürlich wird auch die heute allgegenwärtige Sportlichkeit in der Mode thematisiert, vom Sneaker bis zu den Sweatpants. Und, überraschend und sehr lustvoll, der Stil von Fans, welche ihren Idolen von der Tribüne aus zujubeln.

Es gibt an ausgewählten Daten Führungen für Erwachsene und solche für Familien. Für Kinder liegt ein kostenloses Aktivitätsbüchlein bereit, allerdings nur auf Englisch und Französisch. Ebenfalls auf Französisch sind die Audio-Führung mit Beiträgen von Sophie Lemahieu, Kuratorin des Musée des Arts décoratifs, verfügbar und eine Podcast-Reihe mit Expertinnen und Experten, welche die Verbindungen zwischen Mode und Sport aus historischer, künstlerischer rund olympischer Perspektive diskutieren.
