Este accidente se conoce como pérdida de carril de circulación normal con un choque angular. Ocurrió en la vía Loja-Catamayo, en el sector Loma Sagrada. El bus de la Cooperativa de Transporte “TAC” de placas OAM-0079, de disco número 24, pertenece a Julio César T. Es un Mercedes Benz del 2007. Sin embargo, el propietario no estaba al volante; se presume que lo hacía Dany Al, de 37 años.

El segundo vehículo involucrado es un Chevrolet Forsa de placas TCF-0567. El conductor era el médico Carlos Vélez, de 46 años, quien perdió la vida en el siniestro. Además, hubo 16 fallecidos en total, entre ellos el conductor del Suzuki y el cabo segundo de Policía, Jairo Sanmartín.

Identificación de los fallecidos

Según las primeras verificaciones de la Policía, realizadas desde la tarde y noche del 6 de diciembre, se confirmaron 16 personas fallecidas. 14 cuerpos ya fueron identificados en el Centro de Medicina Legal de Loja, pero dos no pueden ser identificados debido al estado en que quedaron sus cuerpos. Son una mujer y un varón, según el comandante Ortega.

Actualmente, se está trabajando con Criminalística y el estudio necrodactilar para intentar identificar a estos dos desconocidos. Además, los heridos fueron atendidos en casas de salud públicas y privadas de Loja. El comandante Ortega ha indicado que se informará paulatinamente sobre los avances del caso y el estado de salud de los heridos. Se han realizado entrevistas preliminares para determinar el hecho.
