ดร.ก้องศักดิ์ เปิดเผยว่า กกท.และกองทุนพัฒนาการกีฬาแห่งชาติ ได้ร่วมมือกันอย่างต่อเนื่องเพื่อขับเคลื่อนวงการกีฬาไทย และล่าสุดกองทุนฯได้แถลงนโยบายในการทำงานหลังจากนี้ด้วย โดยมีกรอบนโยบายจากรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงท่องเที่ยวและกีฬา สรวงศ์ เทียนทอง ที่มุ่งเน้นให้กองทุนฯเป็นที่พึ่งของนักกีฬา ดูแลเรื่องการเบิกจ่ายเงินรางวัลให้รวดเร็วและคล่องตัว รวมถึงดูแลด้านสวัสดิการและการเตรียมความพร้อมของนักกีฬาทั้งนี้ ในปี 2568 กองทุนฯจะมีภารกิจสำคัญในการเตรียมการจัดการซีเกมส์ ครั้งที่ 33 ที่ไทยจะเป็นเจ้าภาพ ซึ่งถือเป็นโอกาสสำคัญในการต่อยอดพัฒนานักกีฬาไทยสู่เวทีระดับทวีป ระดับโลก และโอลิมปิกเกมส์ ดร.ก้องศักดิ์ กล่าวว่า ผู้จัดการกองทุนฯคนใหม่ นายทนุเกียรติ จันทร์ชุม มีความมุ่งมั่นที่จะเปลี่ยนแปลงหลายๆอย่างในการดำเนินงานของกองทุนฯ

ดร.ก้องศักดิ์ เปิดเผยว่า ทางกกท.และกองทุนฯ มีแผนร่วมกันที่จะทำระบบเบิกจ่ายเงินใหม่ ซึ่งจะช่วยให้สมาคมกีฬาต่างๆได้รับเงินอย่างรวดเร็วยิ่งขึ้น โดยระบบใหม่นี้จะมีการทำความเข้าใจเรื่องระเบียบข้อบังคับและภาระต่างๆในเรื่องของการตรวจสอบ ซึ่งสมาคมกีฬาก็จะมีส่วนที่ต้องรับผิดชอบมากยิ่งขึ้นดร.ก้องศักดิ์ กล่าวว่า ระบบใหม่นี้ไม่ได้เกิดขึ้นจากความคิดของกกท.หรือกองทุนฯเพียงอย่างเดียว แต่เป็นการหารือกันร่วมกันทุกฝ่าย ทั้งกองทุนฯ กกท. และสมาคมกีฬาที่เกี่ยวข้อง โดยจะมีความคล้ายๆกับกองทุนอื่นๆ ที่มีการอนุมัติโครงการ แล้วก็มีการโยกงบประมาณไปสู่สมาคมต่างๆ ซึ่งสมาคมก็ต้องเข้ารับการตรวจสอบจากหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้อง
