"The Ultimatum" Season 3: Creator on Couples' Exit & Nick's Meltdown
2024-12-06
The Netflix series The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On has been creating quite a buzz with its third season. On December 4th, the show debuted, and within just four episodes, fans were treated to a shocking event involving two couples. In episode 4, Chanel and Micah, along with Dave and Vanessa, left the experiment without any prior notice. Producers revealed through a title card that the foursome had "secretly met off camera" earlier that day but were caught packing by surveillance cameras that evening. Nick and Mariah, who were paired with different couples, expressed their disappointment in their respective confessionals. This unexpected turn of events left the cast and viewers alike in shock.

Creator's Perspective on the Couples and Their Departure

When asked about the general feeling towards the couples heading into the season, Chris Coelen shared that while one might have opinions about where they might end up, the key is that they have a real question about getting married, which is incredibly relatable. Regarding the two couples that left, he emphasized that such things are unpredictable and not something that can be anticipated. It was an unexpected twist that no one could have foreseen. When the couples left, Coelen was on the ground during The Choice and then flew back to L.A. He received a phone call informing him of what was happening and was left to figure out the next steps. He expects the unexpected and has seen similar situations in previous seasons.

Internal Conversations and the Impact on Other Participants

After the couples' exit, there were internal conversations within the production team. Coelen stated that they were never considering scrapping the season as it is fascinating to document whatever happens. For the other participants, seeing their fellow couples leave can be upsetting, but they are always supportive of people's choices.

Reaching Out to the Couples and Nick and Mariah

The production team did reach out to the couples who left, but Micah did not get on the phone. Dave, Vanessa, and Chanel were spoken to, and it was clear that they did not want to participate anymore. Regarding Nick and Mariah, an honest conversation was had with them. They felt abandoned as they didn't have the opportunity to interact with their trial marriage partners. All options were put on the table, but they were never pushed to do anything.

The Emotional Journey of Nick and Sandy

The situation between Sandy and Nick developed quickly. Nick was very upset when Vanessa left and then realized he was alone. He chose to introspect but was disappointed when he saw Sandy having a different experience. His actions of going to Sandy's place and begging her to leave were understandable given the circumstances.

Producer's Approach and Preventive Measures

The production team is not filming 24/7, but they are always in touch with the participants. They believe in simulating a real marriage experience by allowing the participants to have phones and contact their exes. Regarding preventing similar incidents in the future, Coelen speculates that people get nervous and don't want to see things through, which might lead to them leaving. The first five episodes of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On season 3 are now streaming on Netflix, with new batches dropping each Wednesday until December 18.
71-Year-Old Texas Man Finishes Seven Continents Marathon Race in a Week
2024-12-06
Mike Rogers, a 71-year-old from Texas, has recently accomplished a truly rare running feat. His journey took him across seven continents, competing in seven marathons in just one week. This extraordinary adventure began at Wolf's Fang runway in Antarctica, where he braved below-freezing temperatures to start the race. After that, he continued on to Cape Town, South Africa; Perth, Australia; Istanbul, Turkey; and Cartagena, Colombia, before finally finishing in Miami, USA.

Unbelievable Running Journey Across Continents

Antarctica: The Challenging Start

Rogers faced extreme conditions as he began the race in Antarctica. The below-freezing temperatures and the unique environment of Wolf's Fang runway presented a significant challenge. But he didn't let that deter him. He pushed through the cold and started his journey with determination. "It was a tough start, but I knew I had to keep going. The sense of accomplishment when I crossed that finish line in Antarctica was indescribable," he said.

Running in such extreme conditions required a lot of preparation and mental strength. Rogers trained hard to ensure he could handle the rigors of the race. He knew that this was just the beginning of an incredible adventure.

South Africa: A New Experience

From Antarctica, Rogers moved on to Cape Town, South Africa. The change in scenery and climate was a welcome relief after the cold of Antarctica. But the race still presented its own challenges. "Running in Cape Town was a whole new experience. The heat and the different terrain made it a bit more difficult, but I loved every moment of it," he shared.

He met people from all over the world during this leg of the race. The diversity of cultures and the friendly atmosphere added to the excitement. "It was amazing to connect with people from different backgrounds and share our love for running," he said.

Australia: A Test of Endurance

Perth, Australia, was the next stop on Rogers' journey. The long distances and the hot climate tested his endurance like never before. "Running in Australia was a real test. The heat was intense, and the distances were long, but I kept pushing myself. I knew that every step brought me closer to my goal," he said.

He had to adapt to the new environment and find ways to stay hydrated and energized. But his determination never wavered. "I learned a lot about myself during this leg of the race. I discovered that I have more strength and endurance than I thought," he added.

Turkey: A Cultural Encounter

Istanbul, Turkey, offered a unique cultural experience for Rogers. The city's rich history and beautiful architecture added to the charm of the race. "Running through Istanbul was a dream come true. The combination of history and running was truly special. I felt like I was part of something bigger," he said.

He also had the opportunity to interact with the local people and learn about their culture. This added a new dimension to his running journey. "The people in Istanbul were so friendly and welcoming. It made the whole experience even more memorable," he said.

Colombia: A Vibrant Finish

Cartagena, Colombia, was the final leg of the race. The vibrant culture and the beautiful beaches made it a fitting end to an amazing journey. "Running in Colombia was a blast. The energy and the enthusiasm of the people were infectious. It was a great way to finish the race," he said.

Despite the challenges along the way, Rogers never gave up. His perseverance and determination paid off when he crossed the finish line in Miami, USA. "I'm so proud of what I've accomplished. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I'll never forget," he said.

Rogers' story is an inspiration to us all. It shows that with a little determination and hard work, we can achieve great things. Whether it's running across continents or pursuing our dreams, we can all make a difference.

Green told PEOPLE that she and Rojas began dating in September 2023 after what she called an “accidental date.” Towards the end of the summer, they had plans to go to a nice restaurant with a friend who canceled at the last minute. They sat for three or four hours just talking, and the rest is history.

During a January 2024 appearance on The Viall Files, Green shared that one of the things she loves most about Rojas is his ability to listen. She said that for a long time, he would just listen to her and she wondered if he cared. But he would respond by saying that he had a lot to say but was just listening to her get things out. When comparing her relationship with Rojas to her past with Shep Rose, Green said it comes down to “listening and caring and actually being invested in my life, even if it seems silly.” She also mentioned that she overthinks everything and Rojas tells her to stop, which is something she never had in her previous relationships.
