The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is making significant progress in Amarillo. Construction has begun on a crucial new turnaround located between Arden and Hillside roads. This initiative is set to bring about substantial changes in the local traffic flow.

Enhancing Traffic Safety and Congestion Relief

Officials emphasize that the new turnaround is meticulously designed to address the long-standing issue of traffic congestion on SL 335. By providing drivers with an additional route to West Plains High School, it aims to enhance overall safety on the road. The added deceleration and acceleration lanes will play a vital role in reducing congestion at the Hillside Rd. intersection. This not only benefits the daily commuters but also contributes to a more efficient transportation system.

With the construction underway, TxDOT is working diligently to ensure the timely completion of the project. Despite the expected completion by early January, it's important to note that all projects are subject to various factors such as weather conditions, emergency work, and unexpected events. The team is committed to minimizing any disruptions and delivering a high-quality turnaround that meets the needs of the community.

Benefits for the Local Community

The new turnaround will have a profound impact on the local community. It will provide an alternative route for drivers, reducing the strain on existing roads and minimizing delays. This will lead to a more seamless travel experience for both residents and visitors. Moreover, the improved safety features will give commuters peace of mind, knowing that they have a well-designed intersection to navigate.

In addition to the immediate benefits during construction, the completed turnaround will serve as a long-term solution to the traffic challenges in the area. It will contribute to the overall development and growth of Amarillo by facilitating smoother traffic flow and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.

Impact on Daily Commuting

For daily commuters, the new turnaround will be a game-changer. It will offer more flexibility in their routes, allowing them to avoid congested areas and reach their destinations more quickly. The improved traffic flow will also reduce stress levels during rush hours, making the daily commute more pleasant.

Commuters can expect to see a significant reduction in waiting times at the Hillside Rd. intersection. This will lead to increased productivity and a better overall commuting experience. The new turnaround is a step forward in addressing the transportation needs of the community and ensuring a more efficient movement of people and goods.
