El gobierno ha establecido un catálogo de claves terapéuticas optimizado y lanzado la plataforma de discusión del proyecto de licitación en https://discusion.salud.gob.mx/. El objetivo es garantizar la transparencia y la eficiencia, por lo que se excluyó a intermediarios en el proceso, permitiendo únicamente la participación de fabricantes y titulares de registro sanitario. Las adjudicaciones de medicamentos de fuente única y patente comenzarán el 27 de noviembre de 2024, mientras que las licitaciones para los productos genéricos se darán a conocer el 16 de diciembre de 2024, con entregas previstas a partir de marzo de 2025.

Además, las entregas se realizarán directamente en los almacenes estatales, siempre que esto no incremente el costo, o a través del Centro Federal de Almacenamiento y Distribución de Insumos para la Salud (CEFEDIS) en Huehuetoca, Estado de México.
