New Features in Writing Mode
The Writing Mode, which is only available in the new developer version, enables users to utilize the browser-internal AI Aria for various writing tasks. This function is directly integrated into the browser's command line and can be accessed by pressing the Ctrl+/ or cmd+/ key combination. After double-clicking the Tab key, the Writing-Tag appears.
One of the central innovations is the introduction of the "Generate text" option. This complements the already known functions "Tweak it" and "Spellcheck". Users can now give Aria direct instructions to create texts such as emails or reports. The access to writing functions has been simplified: by marking text and right-clicking, the AI functions can be directly called.
Improved User Interface
The user interface has also been made more intuitive. All three main functions are now displayed below the command line. Another improvement, according to the developers, is the ability to continue conversations with Aria in a regular sidebar chat. This allows users to recall previous writing requests later.
Technical Enhancements
Technical improvements ensure that Aria now takes into account the context and progress of a conversation to provide better text suggestions. Users can formulate their requests in natural language and are no longer limited to predefined options. The system can now respond more precisely to specific formulation wishes.
For example, in the practical application of writing an email: after calling the Writing Mode, the user can give Aria a short instruction, whereupon the AI creates a text draft. This can be further adjusted through natural language instructions, such as to make the tone more formal or informal. When used in text input fields, the system provides a direct "Insert to page" function, eliminating the need for manual copying and pasting. It is suspected that some Opera users will surely be happy when such features are available by default.
