The Ottawa University Braves basketball team faced a tough challenge on Monday night, falling to the 19th-ranked Baker University Wildcats by a score of 89-79. Despite a strong effort, the Braves were unable to overcome the Wildcats' balanced attack and fell to 1-1 on the young season.

The Braves struggled to find their rhythm offensively, shooting just 38% from the field and 21.4% from beyond the arc. While they were able to capitalize on 19 points off turnovers, they were outscored 36-32 in the paint and 16-13 in second-chance points. The team's bench production was also limited, with Baker holding a 17-5 advantage in that category.Despite the offensive woes, the Braves had four players reach double figures, led by Jayden Hibbitt's impressive double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds. The Braves will look to bounce back this weekend, as they face off against Calvary University on Friday and Kansas Christian College on Saturday. Calvary is coming off a lopsided 104-54 loss to York University, while Kansas Christian College fell 89-75 to Avila University. The Falcons of Kansas Christian College are led by a trio of double-digit scorers, including James Lewis (17.5 ppg), Isaac Lane (16.5 ppg), and Kaiden Hunter (10.0 ppg).
