Sergey Ustinov, 18 tuổi, lái xe từ nhà ở thị trấn Yakutsk (Nga) để đi tới thành phố Magadan. Sau đó, theo chỉ dẫn của Google Maps, Ustinov rời đường cao tốc và đi một con đường tắt băng qua rừng, nhưng sau đó bị lạc, tông xe vào một thân cây nằm chắn ngang đường khiến xe bị hỏng. Vào tháng 9/2020, người dùng Iiris Celine tại Na Uy phản ánh rằng do Google chỉ đường sai, trong vòng hai tuần, người dân địa phương đã phải giải cứu ít nhất 8 chiếc ô tô bị mắc kẹt. Thậm chí, một xe đã rơi xuống hố sâu 3m. Celine đã báo cáo lỗi chỉ đường sai này lên Google Maps từ trước đó hai tháng nhưng ứng dụng vẫn chưa thay đổi chỉ dẫn trên bản đồ.
