Unlock the Magic of 'Funny Girl' with Its Talented Cast

Follow the Journey of Fanny Brice

The show follows the captivating journey of the iconic Fanny Brice, a story that has touched the hearts of millions. As audiences watch the performance, they are treated to a wide range of talent on stage at every moment. It's a visual and auditory feast that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats.

From the very first scene, the chemistry between the actors and the energy on stage are palpable. The story unfolds in a way that draws viewers in, making them feel like they are a part of Fanny Brice's world. It's a testament to the power of live theater and the ability of a great production to transport audiences to another time and place.

The attention to detail in every aspect of the show is truly remarkable. From the costumes to the set design, every element contributes to the overall immersive experience. It's clear that a lot of thought and effort has gone into bringing this production to life.

The Star of the Show: Izaiah Montaque Harris

One of the shining stars of "Funny Girl" is Izaiah Montaque Harris, who takes on the role of Eddie Ryan. Not only does he excel in acting and singing, but he also showcases his incredible tap dancing skills.

Harris is the son of a dance instructor, and it's evident that his upbringing has had a profound impact on his talent. Growing up, he absorbed different dance styles from his mother and developed a passion for tap that has now taken him to the heights of Broadway. His performance in "Funny Girl" is a testament to his hard work and dedication.

When asked about his experience in the show, Harris said, "Everything has really led me to this year and a half. To be able to act and sing in the same show is the most special experience I have ever had in my life." His words reflect the joy and fulfillment he gets from being part of this production.

Backstage Access and Inspiring Students

Only CBS News Colorado's Dillon Thomas was granted backstage access to the cast and crew of "Funny Girl" before their Denver visit. This unique opportunity allowed him to join Harris as he visited a group of students in Salt Lake City to share his craft.

The students at the Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts were treated to a masterclass, a 90-minute lesson with Harris. It was a chance for them to learn from a true professional and gain inspiration for their own artistic pursuits.

Harris believes that arts have a direct correlation to expression and that passing on his skills is the most heart-filling thing he can do. He said, "It is a long ongoing lesson of hard work and putting your heart into something. Just to be able to pass it on means more to me than anything." His words resonate with the students, who are eager to learn and grow.

The Importance of Masterclasses

Harris emphasized the importance of masterclasses for students. He said, "It is super important because a lot of us don't think we have the abilities to make it this far. But then you meet these Broadway stars, these swings, actors, professionals and coaches, and you realize they have the exact same story as us. And, here they are now. Because they took that shot. That is really inspiring."

For students like Gray Henry, who has only been tap dancing for less than three years, masterclasses like these provide a valuable opportunity to learn from the best. Harris challenged the students, saying, "Tap-dance is a very technical aspect, some people compare it to mathematics. You have to do the small steps so many times before you do the next slightly bigger steps, and that takes years."

Despite the challenge, Henry and her classmates were able to absorb all the intricacies of the dance Harris taught them. She said, "I think I liked this one because it was so challenging. It made me realize that with hard work and dedication, I can achieve anything."

Funny Girl plays at the DCPA from Dec. 10 through Dec. 22. For more information on tickets, visit DCPA's website. CBS Colorado is a proud partner of the DCPA, and we look forward to seeing the show and sharing more stories with you.
