Bringing Back a Successful Program
This food donation program was previously active from 2017 to 2019. In just 2019 alone, an impressive 636 pounds of food were collected. The donations go directly to the Missoula Food Bank, benefiting the local community. People with outstanding citations can easily participate by bringing their nonperishable food donations to the Missoula Parking Commission office at 128 W. Main St. during regular business hours from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It's important to note that the office will be closed on Dec. 25 for the holiday. All non-perishable food items are welcome, as long as they are not opened, damaged, or out-of-date. 1: This provides a convenient way for those with parking citations to fulfill their obligations while also helping those in need. The Missoula Food Bank is on a mission to raise $300,000 before 2025 through their holiday drive. This significant amount will play a crucial role in supporting the organization as it moves into the spring. Last year, they fed over 24,000 people in store, and this summer, they provided an astounding 66,000 meals to school-aged children. These numbers clearly demonstrate the scale of their work and the need for continued community support.
Community support is essential as many people are living paycheck to paycheck, struggling with the high costs of child care, housing, and food. Allison emphasizes the importance of ensuring that folks have food on their tables, allowing them to make less difficult decisions between grocery expenses and rent. Donations will primarily go towards purchasing food, as the food bank buys about 50% of its supply. Every contribution counts and makes a real difference in the lives of those in need.
Giving Tuesday and Donation Opportunities
Up to $10,000 in donations received this Giving Tuesday will be matched by Jackson Contracting, providing an excellent opportunity for increased impact. Those interested in donating can do so online, making it convenient for people to contribute from the comfort of their homes. In-person donations can also be made at the main location off Wyoming Street. Additionally, food donations are always welcome, as they directly contribute to the food bank's inventory and help meet the immediate needs of those in crisis.
