This year's Spotlight Gala represented a strategic shift for ECA's primary fundraising event. Rather than the traditional sit-down dinner and auction, the organization opted for a benefit concert format that placed the spotlight squarely on a dynamic mainstage performance. This decision, according to ECA Executive Director Kathy Liu, was a deliberate move to "encapsulate our mission, giving us all an uplifting, phenomenal world-class performance; a celebration of community; inspiration for future generations and ourselves; and human connection through the power of the performing arts."A Night of Celebration and Inspiration
The evening's festivities began with a pre-show cocktail hour featuring hors d'oeuvres and specialty cocktails, setting the stage for the main event. Guests then settled in for an intimate, heartfelt concert by Tony and Grammy Award-winning artist Renée Elise Goldsberry, whose stunning performance culminated in a confetti-filled standing ovation. For those holding Diamond Level tickets, the experience continued with a private meet-and-greet, where they delighted in dessert, photo ops, and the opportunity to bask in the afterglow of Goldsberry's captivating show.Community Voices and Unwavering Support
The Spotlight Gala also featured remarks from local luminaries, including Edmonds Mayor Mike Rosen, ECA and Edmonds Public Facilities District Board Presidents Lindsay Geyer and Ray Liaw, and renowned travel writer and arts advocate Rick Steves. Steves, in particular, delivered an impassioned speech about the enduring value of the arts in the Edmonds community, recalling the community's decision nearly 20 years ago to transform the former high school into the vibrant Edmonds Center for the Arts.A Resounding Success and a Bright Future
