Dolly Parton Explains Why Husband Avoids Events: "Never Ask Again"
2024-12-09
Dolly Parton, the renowned country music icon at 78 years old, is sharing details about her private husband, Carl Thomas Dean, who is 82. In a revealing interview on the Monday, Dec. 9 episode of Bunnie Xo's Dumb Blonde podcast, she disclosed that her husband, known for his reclusiveness, refuses to accompany her to award shows.

Respecting Each Other's Preferences

Parton recounted how in 1966, they got married and in 1967, she begged him to go with her to the BMI song of the year award. She rented him a tuxedo and he went, but he was extremely uncomfortable throughout the night. As soon as they got home, he made it clear that he didn't want to attend such events again. "He said, 'Look, now I want you to do everything you want to do, and I wish you the best, but don't ever ask me to go to another one of these damn things because I ain't going.' And he never did," she said. This mutual respect has been a part of their relationship for 58 years. The couple renewed their vows in 2016 at their home in Nashville. Parton explained that her husband is a homebody and that works well for them. "He was a homebody, and that worked well for us…I don't know if anybody out there that goes by astrology or pays attention to that. But he's Cancer and I'm Capricorn, and those are compatible signs," she said. "He loved to go places, if we were gonna drive cross-country or if we had planned a thing. But, boy, he never could wait to get home."In 2018, in a PEOPLE cover story exclusive, the Grammy Award-winner shared another aspect of their relationship. She joked and said, "I always joke and laugh when people ask me what's the key to my long marriage and lasting love. I always say 'Stay gone!' and there's a lot of truth to that. I travel a lot, but we really enjoy each other when we're together and the little things we do."Even though they have different preferences, their love and respect for each other have endured. Parton's ability to balance her gypsy nature with her husband's homebody tendencies shows the strength of their relationship.
Kelly Ripa Decorates NYC Townhouse Construction Site for Christmas
2024-12-10
Kelly Ripa, at 54 years old, is a true master of handling life's little challenges. During the Monday, Dec. 9 episode of "Live with Kelly and Mark," she showed viewers how she gracefully worked around the construction outside her New York City townhouse. Her husband and co-host, Mark Consuelos, 53, was initially not on board with some of her holiday setups, but together they found a way to make it all work.

Holiday Decorations Amid Construction

A photo of the exterior of Ripa and Consuelos' abode revealed a temporary structure outside their home, adorned with a big red bow and an inflatable snowman. Ripa shared how she got the snowman despite her husband's initial objections. "I got this big snowman and Mark did not want the snowman at all. So I asked the men at the construction site, 'Can we put the snowman here?' And they were like, 'Whatever floats your boat!' Which was quite a moment for me. I was like, 'Oh my God, how do I get Mark to say that to me?'" She also pointed out that the neighborhood dogs have taken a liking to the "little tiny package" outside. "Cute, right? Festive. And look, see the little tiny package? That’s where the dogs usually pee. Not ours, other people’s. Now they’ve got a pee present. Isn't it cute? And we compromised!"

Dealing with the Christmas Tree

During the episode, Ripa revealed that they had to get a smaller tree this year. "We had two trees this year. One arrived and it was too big for us to fit in our house. The Christmas tree is a big deal for me every year; it’s what I look forward to. And when the tree arrived, and they cut it open, it was like a scene out of [National Lampoon’s Christmas] Vacation. The entire tree became [huge]. It was like a bloomin’ onion." The original tree took up the "entire room" and stood "3 feet taller" than the room's ceiling height, so they had to settle for a "treezempic" centerpiece instead. Ripa joked, "So we got what I like to call Treezempic, or Pinejaro. She’s skinny, don't skinny-shame her. She’s sensitive about it. She’s been exercising every day. She’s beautiful. But when I tell you, hanging ornaments on this tree… even the lightest ornament and the branches are like, 'I can’t.'" Since the branches are too "flaccid," as Consuelos put it during the episode, they had to get creative with how they placed their 33-year-old ornament collection. "Most of the ornaments are inside the tree," she revealed.Ripa often shares photos of her Christmas tree each year on Instagram. This year, she debuted her glowing evergreen on Sunday, Dec. 8 along with the hilarious caption, "Behold the lady even the trees are skinny this year #treezempic?". In 2019, she switched it up by adorning her tree with nostalgic photos featuring her, Consuelos and their kids along with their traditional ornaments. The married couple of 28 years share three children together — Michael, 27, Lola, 23, and Joaquin, 21.

Rebecca Minkoff on Danny Masterson's Past Support & Scientology Link
2024-12-10
Rebecca Minkoff, a renowned fashion designer, has found herself in the spotlight once again as she clarifies her relationship with convicted rapist Danny Masterson. In a recent appearance on Two Ts in a Pod, hosted by Bravo reality stars Teddi Mellencamp and Tamra Judge, Minkoff opened up about her connection to the That ’70s Show alum.

Early Days and Support

Minkoff revealed that when she first started out in her career, Danny Masterson was incredibly supportive. She mentioned, "When I began, he was there for me. I knew no one else, and he introduced me to 'girls and actresses that were excited to wear my product.' Those early connections played a significant role in shaping my career."During those initial years, Masterson's influence seemed to open doors for Minkoff. It was a time when every connection mattered, and his support gave her a boost.

Current Stance

Minkoff emphasized that she hasn't seen or spoken to Danny Masterson in over 10 years. She stated, "I have no current involvement with him. My focus is on my work and my life. I didn't participate in the case and don't have details about what happened."She firmly believes that it's important to stay away from such controversial situations and focus on positive aspects.

Rape Charges and Legal Proceedings

Masterson was charged in 2020 with forcibly raping three women between 2001 and 2003. At that time, both he and the victims were part of the Scientology church. He pleaded not guilty to all three charges in January 2021.The legal battle continued, and in May 2023, Masterson was ultimately found guilty of two counts of rape. The third count resulted in a hung jury. In September 2023, he was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison. This legal outcome has brought a sense of closure for some and raised questions for others. Minkoff, however, has maintained her distance and focused on her own path.

Religious Beliefs and Scientology

Minkoff has spoken openly about being a member of the Church of Scientology throughout her career. In a 2021 profile in The New York Times, she explained, "I'm totally open about my religion. But it's not my job to proselytize. People often get confused when they hear the word 'religion' and immediately assume I pray to L. Ron Hubbard. I study it, take classes, and it has helped me stay centered. I don't have all the answers, but it's been a place for me to find some."She also addressed the "horrific misinformation" surrounding the religion, highlighting the importance of understanding it from a personal perspective.Minkoff continues to make her mark in the fashion world while staying true to her beliefs and values. She has shown that one can navigate through challenging situations with grace and determination.
