My First Driving Experience
I was one of the first in my high school friends to obtain a driver's license, despite being one of the youngest. That first driving lesson was terrifying, but I soon fell in love with it. Now, I believe a car drive and an aux cord can fix almost anything. Driving allows me to be present with myself when alone and creates the perfect atmosphere for conversation with others.My car isn't the coolest. It's a 2007 silver Honda Odyssey that has been in my family for as long as I can remember. Even with a broken AC and broken window shades in the backseat, it feels like a piece of home. I love how many people it can fit and how proud I feel when I manage to park it in a tight space. I wear the status of a minivan driver like a badge of honor.
The Designated Driver
Since I was one of the first to get my license, I often became the designated driver. Even though most of my friends have their own licenses now, I still insist on driving. I enjoy the responsibility and the trust my friends give me. My car has been with me for a long time and has seen so much, becoming a part of my relationships.One Thursday night, Ralph and I were on our way to the high school gymnasium for the varsity basketball team's senior night. Ralph frantically changed out of her sweaty pinnie as we raced to make it on time. She sped like her life depended on it, and every time I drive that route, I am transported back to that exciting night.
Chipotle and Truth or Truth
During my senior year of high school, Lana and I went to watch Paris and Violet at a basketball game. I drove, and the three of them joked that I was holding them hostage after locking them in the trunk. We ate Chipotle and played truth or truth in the cold car. It was the first time the three of them hung out together, and I cherished seeing them bond.We didn't remember much about the game, but we remembered the laughter that filled the car. These moments with my friends are precious and will always stay with me.
Road Trip to College
A few months before graduating high school, I went on a road trip with my sister and dad to visit potential colleges. It was a challenging time as I was indecisive, but the drive was a bonding experience.
